Eyes in the back of my head...
One day Gabby was doing her homework when I glanced down and saw that her eye looked like it was black and blue. I said, "Gabby, what happened to your eye?" She replied that she was sitting with her palm of her hand on her eye and that it was probably from that. "Are you sure?" I asked. Jeff added that her eye looked black and blue and said in fun, "Maybe someone punched you in the eye." She gave us a questionable look and replied with a no. Egging her on, Jeff continued, "If it looks like that in the morning we can punch the other side to make them match, or maybe I can just 'blip' you instead." to which she stated calmly, " You can blip the back of my head where my other eye is!"
On Growing...
While organizing books in her room, Gabby was talking and talking about reading them. She would talk about each book in her "science lab" section of her room. This part of her room includes her hermit crabs, a snail she found in the yard and her betta fish. She's recently realized that when I cleaned her room last, I put only science books in her book shelf. She was thrilled when she found out.
Out of the blue during all that talk she stopped and asked, "Mom, why don't our heads keep growing like the rest of us?" I laughed so hard it hurt. If she only realized how much her head is still growing with all that knowledge. For that matter, so is mine because she teaches me something every day!
Here is a little growth of my own. I took this today. It's March 2nd and Spring has arrived in the south! Enjoy!

Much ado
Just about everyone I know who had babies said how much the enjoyed being pregnant. I was very different. I enjoyed the having kids part but was not so fond of all the aching and hurting. I also was not impressed with strangers walking up to me and randomly touching my belly.
I got to thinking about this yesterday when we had a girls day out and a cousin is about halfway through her first pregnancy. All the family wanted to feel the baby kicking. It was fun and exciting. But I wondered if she was walking around and a complete stranger just randomly walked up to her and put a hand on her belly if the rest of the girls would attack them like a pack of wolves.
With that aside, I suppose having a baby - four in my case - wasn't all that bad really. I have wonderful kids, so I can say that right now.

It's a Grandma thing
I am not nearly old enough to be a grandma. I just wanted you to know that in advance.
My daughter has been telling her puppy that she is his momma. He does follow her around and pounce on her every move she makes. They are attached at the hip. While walking through the house one day I overheard her saying to her puppy Max, " Come on, lets go see grandma."
It was a little weird. I honestly had to think about what she was talking about since my mother had passed away. Then it hit me. She meant me. I believe I had to sit down.
When I do become a grandma, I'm not sure how I will prepare myself for that.

Free isn't Free
Each May in Decatur, Alabama there is a festival sponsored by the Daikin
Company. They call it the Daikin America Festival.
Vendors come in and give away food and drinks. A LOT of FOOD!! Daikin gives away free stuff, everyone gets a Hopi Coat, a pin and there is authentic music, arts and crafts. There is no admission charges.
Last year, we were enjoying the music and the food and Gabby turned to me and said, "Mom, you said once that free is never really free. But this is!!!"
How can you argue with that?
